Petrol Cost per KM Pakistan

Find the fuel cost of each kilometre in Pakistani rupees. Compare your measured city and highway mileage, then see how a petrol-price change affects the same driving distance.

For other countries, use the four-country fuel cost per mile or kilometre calculator.

Compare city and highway petrol cost in PKR/km

Use your own measured economy for each driving condition. These editable defaults are arithmetic examples, not vehicle ratings.

Enter zero for a leg you will skip. For a return journey, include both directions in your distances.

Worked example: the same price, different roads

At an illustrative PKR 300 per litre, measured city mileage of 12 km/L costs PKR 25/km. Highway mileage of 18 km/L costs approximately PKR 16.67/km. A 100 km drive therefore uses PKR 2,500 or about PKR 1,666.67 of petrol respectively. These are scenarios, not ratings for a named car or today's fuel-price notification.

For a Karachi stop-start commute or a longer motorway journey, measure each type of driving separately. Neither the route name nor the city guarantees a particular mileage. Use comparable loads, AC settings and fuel grades when assessing two vehicles.

Budget for a journey with both kinds of driving

Suppose the first 24 km are in city traffic at 12 km/L and the next 90 km are on the highway at 18 km/L. The city leg uses 2 litres and the highway leg uses 5. At an illustrative PKR 300/L, the 114 km journey costs PKR 2,100, or PKR 18.42/km. Add the litres for each leg before dividing the bill by total distance. Simply averaging the two mileage figures gives each road equal weight even when most of the journey is on the highway.

What a price increase changes

Cost per km = petrol price in PKR/L ÷ measured km/L. At 12 km/L, a PKR 10/L increase adds about PKR 0.83/km, or PKR 833.33 over 1,000 km. Test a negative change for a price decrease. The comparison holds mileage constant; traffic or vehicle condition can change the outcome separately.

Distance affects total spending, not the unit cost at fixed price and economy. Use unrounded values for a final budget; the displayed result is rounded for readability.

Measure mileage before comparing costs

  1. Fill to the normal pump cut-off and note the odometer.
  2. Drive a representative distance and refill consistently. Record litres from the receipt.
  3. Divide kilometres driven by the litres used to refill. Repeat across several fills.

Record city and highway use separately where practical. A mixed tank gives a mixed-driving average. For a receipt-based measurement of distance, litres and fuel cost, use the Pakistan Real Mileage Checker. You can also use the car mileage calculator for other mileage calculations.

Choose the right budget tool

This page compares fuel-only PKR/km. It excludes depreciation, servicing, tyres, insurance, tolls and parking, and is not an employer reimbursement rate.

Common questions

Can I enter a dashboard average?

Yes, as an estimate. Refill measurements across several comparable journeys can help check whether the display represents your actual usage.

Why can a city result differ from a highway result?

Stops, idling, speed, load and AC use affect consumption. Enter measured figures instead of assuming every highway journey is more efficient.

Is the reference price today's petrol price?

Check its displayed effective date and source. Older references and unavailable feeds are labelled; your own pump receipt is the appropriate input for the price you actually pay.
