What these guides add

A vehicle name alone is not enough to estimate fuel cost. Body style, model year, engine and transmission can change the consumption figure. Our tables retain the source variant labels and show the arithmetic behind a cost estimate so you can reproduce it.

This is a curated first set of guides, not a separate page for every trim. The main calculator still offers 7,089 selectable catalogue entries, including years, variants and legacy reference options. The source snapshots used here contain 7,026 entries; the other 63 are existing international reference options.

Start with the country directory, open a featured make, then use its detailed model guide. Other makes remain available through the main calculator.

Measure your own fuel economy before comparing

Catalogue figures are a starting point. Use a properly completed fill-to-fill cycle, record every partial refill between full tanks and combine the total distance and litres or gallons used. Our practical guide works through measured mileage and commute budgets for the USA, Canada, UK and Pakistan.

Before comparing two vehicles

  1. Choose the same country, distance and fuel-price assumptions.
  2. Match the actual variant, not just the model badge.
  3. Replace reference economy with measured consumption where available.
  4. Add parking, tolls and ownership costs separately; lower fuel cost alone does not make a replacement car cheaper overall.

Find the right comparison before estimating costs

Choose your market first: US EPA ratings use US gallons; UK fuel economy uses Imperial gallons; Canada commonly publishes litres per 100 kilometres; and Pakistan market-reference estimates are often kilometres per litre. A number from one market must not be copied into another market without conversion.

Match the vehicle: check model year, engine, powertrain, gearbox and drive layout. Different versions of a Corolla, Civic, Golf or Alto can have different costs even when the badge looks the same.

Turn the reference into a personal budget: enter your actual route distance, local fuel price and measured efficiency. Add tolls, parking, tyres, servicing and insurance separately if you are comparing total ownership costs rather than fuel alone.

Understand the evidence: official test figures are laboratory benchmarks, not a guarantee of your driving results. Pakistan market-reference figures should be treated as estimates and replaced with full-tank measurements when possible. See source coverage, units and limitations.
